Phone Security and Safety with Pixel - Google Store
Google Pixel looks out for you in any situation.
Whether it’s theft, accident, natural disaster, or simply getting lost, Pixel has your back.
Google personal safety features can help you out of a serious jam – and often prevent you from getting into one. If you’re in a car accident, your Pixel phone and watch can automatically call emergency services and share accurate location information so they know where to send help. They can check in with you when you’re going on a run at night. They can help protect your data, too, before, during, and after your Pixel phone is stolen. They can even work to protect you from getting scammed in the first place. And if you’re off the grid, you can use your Pixel phone to get emergency help via satellite. Features like these get better over time, thanks to Pixel’s built-in AI and regular Pixel Drops, which often introduce even more safety options.
Here are a few situations that hopefully won’t arise – but if they do, count on your Pixel phone and
to come to your aid.Picture this: You take a tumble and can’t move for a minute. Your Pixel Watch is looking out for you and can detect if you’ve had a hard fall, then check to see if you’re OK. If you don’t respond, it will call emergency services on your behalf to get you help. And because Fall Detection only reacts to hard falls, you don’t have to worry about triggering false alarms when you simply trip over a doorstep.
With
, your Pixel phone and watch can detect if you’ve had an accident and call emergency services. Either device will notify emergency contacts to let them know what’s happened and share your location using Google’s Emergency Location Service. No matter where or when, help is never far away, thanks to your Pixel. You’re getting fewer spam calls than ever thanks to Call Screen, the optional AI feature that can vet unknown numbers and provide alerts if a spam call is detected. For the ones that slip through, you can protect yourself from falling victim to fraudulent calls and text messages with Scam Detection, which uses on-device AI to alert you if it identifies conversation patterns commonly associated with scams. For example, if a caller claims to be from your bank and asks you to urgently transfer funds because of an alleged account breach, Scam Detection can provide audio and haptic alerts, plus a pop-up warning that the request is likely a scam.
Scam Detection is built to ensure you’re in control of your data. The feature is off by default to protect your privacy, and you can turn it on or off at any time. The detection model and processing for Scam Detection for phone calls are entirely on your phone, powered by the Google Tensor chip. That means your conversations are never sent to Google servers or anywhere else.
Scam Detection in Messages doesn’t send data from scam texts off your device either, unless you decide to report the sender to Google. You can turn the feature off in the settings of your Messages app.
Going somewhere new? Whether you’re checking out a restaurant in an unfamiliar city, going on a first date, or embarking on a solo trip, safety is likely top of mind.
Carry on with confidence, knowing you can easily use Emergency SOS in the Personal Safety app to call for help. Just quickly press the power button on your phone or the crown on your watch five times or more. You’ll then be able to share your location and important information with your emergency contacts, or record a video message to send to them.
Planning to hike and camp in the wilderness where you likely won’t have cellular coverage or Wi-Fi? If you need help, you can use your Pixel 10 phone to contact emergency services via satellite – at no extra charge – thanks to Satellite SOS. You’ll also be able to share your location with family and friends, so you can all have peace of mind.
That’s where Safety Check on your
and Pixel Watch steps in like a reliable buddy. Set a check-in timer on either device, and if you don’t confirm you’re safe when the timer ends, Safety Check will start Emergency Sharing, sending your live location to your emergency contacts. You can also ask your phone or watch to call 911 at any time during a Safety Check, or manually trigger Emergency Sharing. When the ground shakes, the Android Earthquake Alert System can send an early warning to your phone, and help you take expedient steps to safety.
Getting your phone stolen – you hope it never happens to you, especially when your device is unlocked. But it’s important to take precautions, just in case. That’s where Theft Protection features on Pixel phones come in. They can help keep your personal information safe before, during, and after a thief nabs your device.
Theft Protection includes new features that make theft difficult. Revamped Factory Reset Protection prevents a thief from easily reselling your phone without knowing your Google Account info. And Private Space lets you create a separate area on your phone with extra security for apps that might contain your health or financial data.
Now let’s say someone does steal your Pixel – and it’s unlocked. Theft Protection can help safeguard your information the moment the robbery occurs. Using the power of Google AI, it can sense if someone makes off with your phone. This feature quickly locks the screen, preventing anyone from accessing your personal data.

Theft Protection will keep you safe in other ways, too. For example, your screen will lock if someone makes an excessive number of authentication attempts. And if someone tries to turn off your Pixel and go off the grid to stop you from tracking them, your Pixel’s Offline Device Lock will automatically protect your info.
Unfortunately, when someone steals your phone, you don’t always notice it right away. But the Remote Lock feature can help. If your Pixel is already gone, this feature lets you lock the screen by entering your phone number on any device, then answering a security question. No Google Account information required. It may mean that you’re able to safeguard your Pixel before a thief can get ahold of your most sensitive data.
