Under the heading "Tuesday's summary," a detailed narrative describes the day's events as captured by home security devices. The summary uses generic descriptions for individuals, such as "a person walked by" and "someone in a white T-shirt opened the door," and also notes specific events like "A package and mail were delivered."

Skip scrolling through hours of footage and search for specific Nest Cam clips in just seconds with the Advanced plan of Google Home Premium. Try searching using natural language, like “What time did the garbage truck arrive on Thursday?” or “When did the dog get out of the crate last night?” You’ll see relevant events from that day.

A Pixel phone screen shows a conversation with Gemini on Nest AI assistant. The user's query, "How did the dog get out?", is at the top. The AI's response below reads, "A dog was seen jumping out of a pen at 10:23 AM on Sunday. The pen is wooden, and there are paintings and a plant in the room." Below the text, under a "Sun, Sep 28" heading, is a video event notification card labeled "Dog moves toward playpen" with a timestamp and a small thumbnail image.

Pair your new Nest Cam with an

to get a text summary for each clip, describing the events in greater detail. For example, if you’ve added your brother Keith as a and want to remember when he stopped by, you can ask, “What time was Keith at the front door yesterday?” Google Home will pull up the results with a summary of what’s happening in each clip: “Keith was at the front door holding a package on Thursday at 12:02 PM” – so you don’t have to watch the footage to find out. Or choose to receive the Home Brief for a full recap of activity in and around your home.

Automations that make your smart home even smarter

Keeping your life on schedule and your home secure is easier with Gemini. Whether you’re looking to create an ongoing routine, need suggestions for a series of automations, or want to set up a one-time automation while you’re away on vacation, simply describe what you’d like your home to do in the Google Home app, and Gemini will do the rest.

If you’re looking to refresh your morning routine, use the Google Home app to create a series of helpful automations. Type, “At sunrise, turn the lights to 50% brightness, and start my Rise and Shine playlist.” Gemini will brighten the room and play your favorite tunes on your

In the text box, a user has typed the command, "At night, if the house is empty, use lights to make it look like someone's home". Below the text are several light blue suggestion chips, including one that says "Make it seem like someone's home" with a shield icon.

Google Home can also suggest automations even if you know what you’d like, but need help figuring out how to get there. Explain your goal: “I want to create a relaxing evening routine.” The “Help me create” feature in the Google Home app will suggest automations for dimming the lights, playing relaxing music, and sending a nightly alert that it’s meditation time. When you’re away on vacation and want to fully relax without worrying about what’s going on at home, use “Help me create” to set up personalized automations. Just type, “Make it seem like someone’s home at night,” to automatically turn on the lights 15 minutes after sunset.
