Peace of mind comes with your Google Pixel Watch 2.
It’s great for fitness – did you know it can help keep you safe, too?

Sometimes you want a little extra peace of mind during your workout or when you’re on the go.

The safety features on the Google Pixel Watch and Google Pixel Watch 2 are here to help.

Corey Mercer, a Pixel Superfan from Campbell, Ohio, doesn’t take his solo walks around the local parks for granted. He has a condition called Functional Movement Disorder, which means that his body might unexpectedly freeze up and cause him to fall. So before he heads out for a walk, Mercer turns to Pixel safety features, setting a timer on his Pixel Watch 2 using Safety Check.3 If the timer expires with no response, his watch will share his location with emergency contacts.

And then there’s Fall Detection, a feature that would help connect Mercer to emergency services in case of a hard fall during a walk or bike ride – even auto-dialing if he’s unresponsive.2

“Fall Detection has given me peace of mind when I’m on my own,” he says. “If I freeze and fall, I know someone has my back.”

Fitness meets safety

Emergency situations can happen when you least expect them. With the safety features on your watch, you can exercise and seek out adventure knowing there’s a reliable way to call for help if you need it.

Whether you’re jogging on the treadmill or cycling down the coast, the Fall Detection feature on the Pixel Watch and Pixel Watch 2 uses machine learning to determine whether you’ve taken a tumble – even if you’re on your bike. Once you activate this feature, if you’ve fallen and haven’t moved or responded to your device for about a minute, it will automatically contact emergency services and give them your location.2

Wind up in an accident en route to the gym? The Pixel Watch 2 can also help when you’re behind the wheel of your car. An AI-powered feature called Car Crash Detection is now available on your Pixel watch (and your Pixel phone) to make sure you’re OK, so you can have peace of mind no matter which device you have on you. After an automobile crash, Car Crash Detection will check in with you, and if you don’t respond, it will automatically dial emergency services and pinpoint your whereabouts.10

And if you’re in a situation where you feel unsafe, you can easily alert emergency contacts or 911 with Emergency SOS4 – just press the crown of the watch five times to trigger it. You can also share your location with emergency contacts with Emergency Sharing.5

With Safety Signal on the Pixel Watch 2 (LTE), you can still use a range of safety features even if you haven’t activated LTE with your cellular carrier.6,7 When wearing your 4G LTE watch without your phone nearby, you can still access safety features like Emergency Sharing, Fall Detection, and Safety Check – plus reach emergency services and contacts, as long as you have a Fitbit Premium subscription.7 So you can focus on exercising, knowing your Pixel Watch will keep you safe.11

At home or on the trail, you’re covered

Su Fairchild, a regular hiker in central Pennsylvania, keeps her Pixel Watch 2 on her at all times, giving her comfort during activities like hiking. “Knowing what the Pixel Watch 2 can do, I definitely make sure I have it on a hike,” Fairchild says.

She has personal experience with Fall Detection. One day, Fairchild was walking into a room when she felt her foot catch on the strap of a tote bag dangling from a doorknob. She fell hard and hit the floor with both arms. Luckily, her Pixel Watch 2 detected the fall and gave her the option to call emergency services.

After taking some time to figure out what happened, Fairchild decided she was okay and dismissed the notification. “I’m 54 and not as fit as I used to be,” says Fairchild. “But having the Pixel Watch 2 gave me a sense of reassurance.”

Focused on your health, so you can enjoy your workout

Safety risks come in a variety of forms beyond falls and accidents. On the Pixel Watch 2, the same sensors that help you track your heart rate during races can also help you keep an eye out for elevated heart rates. With irregular heart rhythm notifications and the ECG app, you can also count on the Pixel Watch 2 to spot signs of atrial fibrillation (AFib),8,9 which can be difficult to detect. Being notified of an irregular heart rhythm that may be AFib is a first step to addressing it.

If you do find yourself in a situation where emergency responders are called to the scene, Medical Info on your watch stores important details like blood type, health conditions, and medications. If an emergency call is made, your information can be provided to some emergency services. Update your settings so that Medical Info displays on the screen even when your Pixel Watch 2 is locked. As an extra precaution, you can add the Medical ID Tag to your watch band to let emergency services know that your Pixel Watch 2 has important medical information on it.

Whether you’re on a morning run, an afternoon bike ride, or a drive to the gym for an evening workout, the Pixel Watch 2 safety features keep an eye out for you. So you can focus on the things you love, knowing your watch is always there to help.
