Say goodbye to shaky videos and hello to cinematic shots.
There’s something magical about video – the way it records a moment in time, whether it’s your daughter scoring a goal, your friends laughing over dinner, or your dog jumping in the lake.
But what happens when that perfect memory is marred by shaky footage from all the excitement? That’s where Video Boost comes in. It’s an AI-powered feature on Pixel Pro phones that makes your videos look amazing. And Video Boost works seamlessly with other features on Pixel Pro phones like
So how does Video Boost work its magic? It all starts with the Google Tensor chip. When you record a video on your Pixel, Tensor processes the footage instantly. Your phone saves the original version on your device, and then sends a copy to the cloud for advanced processing. There, powerful AI algorithms get to work removing graininess, stabilising movement, and adjusting exposure and colour to create a beautifully enhanced video. You can even shoot in stunning 8K2 if you have a Pixel 9 Pro or newer.
Think about capturing your view from a bike ride, filming a fast-paced football game from the sidelines, or recording in a crowded concert. On Pixel 10 Pro, the main 50 MP camera’s new optical image stabilisation doubles the range of motion – this feature, combined with the power of Video Boost, works to create high-quality, stable clips. You get to live in the moment, knowing your video will look incredibly smooth and clear.
This powerful combination of hardware, AI, and software is like having your own professional stabilisation crew, all packed inside your phone. As you record, the system smooths out the bumps from a rocky trail or the jostling from a crowd. The result is a video that flows beautifully, letting the viewer focus on the action in the scene, not the shakiness of the camera. You don’t have to think about keeping a steady hand – just hit record and let your Pixel and Video Boost handle the rest.

Jason Wiltjer, a structural design engineer in St. Louis, Missouri, has a passion for electric vehicles. He likes taking videos of EVs on the street, but the sun can pose challenges when he films during the day. “Taking videos where the sun is in the background, often your phone camera can’t get detail on the actual subject,” he says. “If I see a cool car outside, I’ll turn on Video Boost to bring up the details of the car, and the video will come out better.”
When recording in daylight, Video Boost balances light while improving colours and contrast. This AI video feature also helps with movement. Let’s say it’s your son’s first birthday party, and you’ve planned for everything: a cake in the shape of a teddy bear, plus extra clothes for when he smashes it all over himself; bubbles and fingerpaint for the kids, and cleaning supplies for the inevitable mess.
But what you couldn’t have planned for was how excited you’d feel right before your son blows out the candle. To make sure your recording doesn’t look shaky, use Video Boost to bring stability to the moment – and you’ll have a clip to enjoy forever.
Before Pixel Video Boost, getting sharp video in dim lighting was tricky. The result was often grainy faces, jumbled shadows, and annoying streaks. That’s what used to happen when Wiltjer tried to take videos of his cat, Ellie. A small black Bombay, she loves sprinting up and down the stairs at home. It’s adorable. But between Ellie’s dark hair and the low indoor light, Wiltjer’s videos never showed much detail. She looked more like “an abyss” than an actual cat. “The video was either just completely black,” he says, “or it tries to bring out details but it looks grainy.”
Now all Wiltjer has to do is open the camera on his Pixel Pro phone, turn on Video Boost in Settings, hit record, and let Ellie do her thing. Within a few minutes or a few hours, depending on the length of the clip, Google processes his original version in the cloud and creates studio-quality recordings.
“Video Boost boosts everything,” Wiltjer says. “[There’s] better dynamic range, less noise in the darker areas of the scene, more details, and less graininess. You can see more intricacies in Ellie’s hair. You can see what she actually looks like
Video Boost also works seamlessly with other cool features on Pixel Pro phones. Night Sight Video lets you take flawless video in the dark. Super Res Zoom Video, now available on Pixel Pro phones, records video like you’re close to the action, even if you’re far away.
Say you’re watching fireworks and want to film the explosions of colour as they light up the night sky – and the crowd’s faces. Night Sight Video works with Video Boost to eliminate blur and grainy footage, leaving you with stunning, crisp videos top professionals would admire.
Or, say you score tickets to the ESL Finals. Even from the nosebleeds, you’ll be able to record every tackle, grimace, and high-five on the field. Super Res Zoom Video combines a powerful telephoto lens and advanced video processing to give you smooth, high-quality video up to 20x closer. Combine it with Video Boost on Pixel Pro phones, and you’ll get incredibly well-lit, clear videos.
You can also take high-quality still images from your recordings with Video Boost. The reason: stills from 8K video become 33-megapixel photos, which means they’re rich in detail. “That is mind blowing, being able to grab a still from a video and still have a great photo to use,” says Rodriguez, the Google senior product marketing manager.
Thanks to Video Boost and other features, he adds, Pixel Pro phones “have the best camera and video camera you can have at every moment of your life.”
