Wi-Fi 6E is upgraded Wi-Fi technology that gives enabled devices direct access to the new 6 GHz band. It delivers faster speeds, lower latencies and overall better performance.
What's the difference between Wi-Fi 6 and Wi-Fi 6E?
Wi-Fi 6E provides an additional band, resulting in faster speeds and less congestion for Wi-Fi 6E-enabled devices. That means that Wi-Fi 6E is up to two times faster than Wi-Fi 6 at combined speeds of up to 4.2 Gbit/s.
What is a tri-band router and how does it relate to Wi-Fi 6E?
Tri-band routers traditionally feature three separate frequency bands for greater speeds and the ability to connect more devices. Tri-band routers with Wi-Fi 6 support 2.4 GHz, 5 GHz Lo and 5 GHz Hi frequency bands, while tri-band routers with Wi-Fi 6E support 2.4 GHz, 5 GHz and 6 GHz frequency bands.
Is Nest Wifi Pro backwards compatible with older Nest routers?
No, Nest Wifi Pro is not compatible with previous generations of Nest or Google Wi-Fi routers or points.
How many Nest Wifi Pro routers should I buy?
Each Nest Wifi Pro router covers up to 120m², or about 1-2 bedrooms. If you need even more coverage, the Nest Wifi Pro 3-pack can cover up to 320m².3
Can Nest Wifi Pro replace my modem?
No, Nest Wifi Pro doesn't function as a modem. Nest Wifi Pro will need to be connected to your existing modem. Once one Nest Wifi Pro router is connected to your modem, your remaining Nest Wifi Pro routers act as points to extend the coverage across your home.

Matter is a new, universal standard for smart home devices designed to make setting up and using your smart home easier. Does my device work with Wi-Fi 6E?
Devices need to be Wi-Fi 6E compatible to access the dedicated 6 GHz band. Devices that aren't Wi-Fi 6E compatible will still work with Nest Wifi Pro, they just won't be able to access the 6 GHz band.
