This Pixel Drop doesn’t just refresh your device – it redefines what your Pixel can do, from keeping you safe to putting the power of a multi-camera video studio right in your hand.Scam Detection is off by default, but you can turn it on by navigating to Settings, then scroll to Scam Detection, then toggle the feature on. It will become active during calls and text exchanges with non-contacts. The AI runs only on your device: No conversation audio or transcript is stored or sent to Google or anywhere else for processing.
Unboxers, cooking streamers, gamers, beauty influencers, and other content creators: Congratulations, your Pixel 9 just became the control pad for a multi-camera video studio. Grab your GoPro or another Pixel phone, and Connected Cameras will let apps on a Pixel 9 select from and use those
to take content to the next level on YouTube, Instagram and other streaming apps.
Keeping track of your Google devices with Find My Device has always been easy – now you can bring that peace of mind to locating your loved ones, too. The new location-sharing feature in the Find My Device app lets you share and receive live locations with trusted contacts, providing a sense of security for both everyday check-ins and emergencies. It’s great for coordinating meetups, ensuring family members get home safely, and simply staying in touch.

Ready to take your creativity further? Pixel Studio can now create images of people. For example, if you want a picture of “a woman in her mid-60s with blue eyes and long grey hair in a green turtleneck typing at a computer, with a speech bubble that says ‘Another day at the office!’” that prompt is all it will take to create a striking image – which you can now use in any app that supports Gboard text entry.
Within each and every Pixel Drop you’ll find more Pixel updates and improvements in addition to marquee new features like the ones above. This Drop, for example, also includes improvements to menstrual cycle tracking on the Pixel Watch 3 with the Fitbit app, an automatic bedtime mode on the Pixel Watch 2, and bug fixes.
With Google’s regular Pixel Drops, your new phone never gets old. And updating your Pixel is simple. Starting on March 4th, 2025, keep an eye out for a message on your smartphone. Or head to Settings, then System, then System Update to check for and install the latest features. Pixel Drops roll out in waves, so if you don’t see it yet, keep an eye out – it’s on the way.
