How does failure to locate work?
If your device cannot be located, we've got you covered with a replacement for your eligible device so that you can reconnect quickly. We'll send you a replacement upon approval as soon as the next business day, saving you time and money.
What are the differences between paying up front and paying monthly?
Preferred Care Monthly Coverage is renewed monthly and can provide up to 4 years of coverage in case of out-of-warranty hardware failure and up to 5 years of product damage and failure to locate coverage. It can be cancelled at any time. During the active period, the plan can cover up to 10 product damage claims (limit 2 per rolling 12-month period, beginning with the date of first repair or replacement) and 5 failure to locate claims (limit 1 per 12-month period). Meanwhile with the upfront plan, you pay once for an additional year of hardware failure coverage (in addition to the one-year manufacturer's warranty). During the active period, the plan can cover up to 2 product damage claims per rolling 12-month period, beginning with the date of first repair or replacement and 1 failure to locate claim per 12-month period (except in Quebec). Financed phones are eligible for both plans, using the same payment method. For more details, please see the Sample Terms and Conditions.

For the Preferred Care upfront plan, your device protection includes 1 year of hardware failure coverage (after the one-year manufacturer warranty expires) and up to 2 product damage claims per coverage term or 2 in a rolling 12-month period based on device. The service contract provider in Canada is Google Canada Corp. The service contract in Canada is administered by the Federal Warranty Service Corporation.
