Your Nest Aware subscription has a new name: Google Home Premium. And it takes you further than before you’re used to, with a Gemini-powered experience that keeps you connected and secure in a more intuitive and intelligent way than ever.

If you’re new to Google’s smart home subscriptions, you can feel confident knowing Google Home Premium builds on more than a decade of trusted, privacy-first security features – while adding more tools to the mix. Whether you’re new to smart home devices from Google, or you’ve relied on Nest Aware for years, you can benefit from this new and improved service.

Alongside popular features like searchable video history, event-based detection, and smart alerts. Google Home Premium will include more conversational hands-free help, and new integrations built with Gemini¹. Plus, these features will be available on more devices, like your Nest speakers². Some features will initially be available on select devices in select countries and languages, and will expand to other devices through early 2026.

Just like Nest Aware, Google Home Premium is available in two plans – Standard and Advanced – replacing the previous Nest Aware and Nest Aware Plus plans. See what’s happening clearly and quickly with animated close-up previews that allow your camera to automatically track motion and zoom in on people, animals, or vehicles. If a dog runs across your backyard in the middle of the day, you’ll see a zoomed-in preview of the activity, enhanced with cloud-based AI super resolution. And if the event occurs in a highly-trafficked space like your driveway or footpath, priority detection highlights people first, so you don’t miss what matters most.

With the new Nest Cam Outdoor (wired, 2nd gen) or Nest Cam Indoor (wired, 3rd gen) you will be able to easily search your camera history using natural language, like, “When was the trash picked up this week?” or “Who opened the garage door on Friday?” And Gemini will deliver daily camera event summaries, giving you a quick smart home monitoring recap without the need to scroll through hours of footage. A Standard plan will provide 30 days of event video history, and an Advanced plan will give you access to 60 days^3,5. Try either for 30 days with the purchase of a Nest Cam Outdoor (wired, 2nd gen) or Nest Cam Indoor (wired, 3rd gen). The availability of these features will expand to other Google Home devices through early 2026.

Speak casually and be understood instantly, thanks to smart speech recognition and a natural voice response. It will feel less like giving instructions and more like having a conversation¹.

Say you’ve got a packed weekend planned when your sister calls: “Surprise! I just flew in for a visit.” With Gemini, adjusting your already busy day is effortless. You can say, “What’s my schedule for today?” and Gemini will let you know what events are on your calendar. Follow up with, “Do I have time to drive to the airport and back?” Gemini will remember the context from earlier, so there’s no need to repeat yourself.

And if you want to pivot your dinner to her favourite dish but aren’t sure how to make it, Gemini can help with that, too. Ask your Google Nest or Google Home Speaker, “How do I make shakshuka?” and Gemini can guide you through each step. While you cook, continue to prep for the evening without ever picking up your phone. Use voice commands to dim the lights and play some music. You will be able to create and manage your routines more intuitively within the Google Home app, too, thanks to the redesigned Automations tab. At a glance, you can now see which automations are coming up next, so you’re always in the loop without having to dig. 

If you have an idea of the routine you want to establish, but don’t know where to start, Gemini will be able to help with that, too. It will give you new ways to streamline your day with the Help Me Create feature – with a Standard plan – which will suggest automations based on how you already use your devices^1,3,4. And soon, when you want to build or tweak a routine, the updated automation builder will make it easier to set things up or spot when something isn’t working as expected.
