Frequently asked questions. What is Google Store trade-in?
It's our trade-in programme, operated by PCS Wireless, that can help you get the latest Pixel phone from Google. If your trade-in device is eligible, you can get some money back to your original form of purchase (or a Google Store credit if we're unable to to credit your original form of payment, if the confirmed trade-in value exceeds the value of your new device or if the new device has been returned in accordance with the applicable Google Store return policy). You can do all this online at the Google Store, making it convenient for you to complete your transaction all in one place.
How does it work?

We've made it easy to trade in an eligible device online. During your purchase of a new Pixel phone, select 'Start trade-in' on the 'trade-in' screen. Just answer a few questions regarding the brand, model and condition of your device. We'll provide an estimated trade-in value. If you accept the trade-in estimate online and complete your purchase, we'll arrange for you to send your old device to our trade-in partner. You will receive your new phone before returning the old one, which gives you time to set the new one up.

Once our trade-in partner receives your old device, they'll inspect it and verify its condition matches what you told us at the time of purchase. Our trade-in partner will also organise an ID check (done by PCS Wireless). If everything checks out, we'll credit your original purchase method (or issue a Google Store credit if we're unable to to credit your original form of payment, if the confirmed trade in value exceeds the value of your new device or if the new device has already been returned in accordance with the applicable Google Store return policy). If the condition of your device doesn't match what you described, or it's returned late, a new trade-in value will be confirmed to you. If that amount is at least 75% of the original estimate, the trade-in will continue and that amount will be credited back to you unless during your purchase you choose to receive your old phone back without credit if its condition doesn't match what you described.

Devices sent for trade-in must be received within 30 days of receiving your new device, provided the purchased device has not been returned during that time and you want to proceed with the trade-in.

How will the value of my old device be credited to me?

The confirmed trade-in value will generally be credited to the form of purchase that you used to purchase your new device. However, you'll receive Google Store credit if we're unable to credit your original form of payment or, where the trade-in value exceeds the value of your new device, you'll receive the difference as Google Store credit.

If the new device is returned in accordance with the applicable Google Store return policy, you'll receive Google Store credit for the device, except where you're returning a defective device in accordance with the Australian Consumer Law, and an alternative remedy is required under those laws.

Credit card refund only available if a Pixel device is purchased on that card.

How much will I get for my trade-in?

It depends on the device, model, manufacturer and condition. Answer a few questions accurately, and once we've received the device within the specified time frame and have verified its condition, you're likely to receive the full amount of the estimated refund. Keep in mind that our trade-in partner needs to receive your device within 30 days of receiving your new phone, and the condition needs to match what you told us.

If the condition of your device doesn't match what you described, or it's returned late, a new trade-in value will be confirmed to you. If that amount is at least 75% of the original estimate, the trade-in will continue and that amount will be credited back to you.

Your device must be in good working order, power up and have no major screen damage to qualify. It must also not be otherwise faulty, for example: screen pixel damage, screen bruising, battery swelling/damage, cracks, damaged backlight and/or an activation lock in place.
