Nest Aware is a paid subscription service that helps you get even more out of your Google Nest cameras, doorbells, speakers and displays. With extra video history and intelligent alerts, you can always stay informed about important events at your home and get more peace of mind. There are two tiers of pricing for Nest Aware which can be paid monthly or annually. Subscriptions start at just $8/month (or $80/year, with a $16 annual savings) across all the Nest cameras, doorbells, speakers, and displays in one home. Nest Aware Plus unlocks more days of event video history and 10 days of 24/7 video history for just $15/month (or $150/year, with a $30 annual savings).

Yes. You can receive a 30-day Nest Aware trial if you register a new household or if you upgrade from a 1st gen Nest Aware subscription.

Nest Aware allows you to add extra video history to the still images or video clips that may be captured by your Nest camera or doorbell when it detects motion, sound or other key events. Event video history allows you to go back in time and review video clips of important events. 24/7 video history allows you to capture every second with continuous recording, so you can scan through your video history to see everything before, during, and after an event.

Both Nest Aware plans allow you to quickly scan through days of video history in seconds. Choose from two simple plans: Nest Aware comes with 30 days of event video history, and Nest Aware Plus comes with 60 days of event video history and 10 days of 24/7 video history.

Nest Aware features and alerts vary by device and country.

Extended video history and advanced intelligent alerts with Nest Aware are currently available in Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Mexico, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, United Kingdom, United States (except Puerto Rico. Familiar faces not available on Nest cameras and doorbells in Illinois).

Emergency calling and sound detection on Google Nest speakers and displays are currently only available in the U.S.

Nest Aware works with all Google Nest cameras, doorbells, speakers and displays. Features and functionality vary by product and country. Learn more about alerts by device.

In addition to a compatible Nest product, you’ll need a Google Account to use Nest Aware. If you have a Nest Account, you may need to migrate to a Google Account to receive the full benefits of Nest Aware.

Your home needs to be in a country that supports Nest Aware.

Nest Aware requires a working internet connection for your home, and access to the Nest app and the Google Home app.

Event video history clips are captured by your Nest camera or doorbell when it detects important sound or motion events. The duration of the clip will vary depending on the activity captured.

Depending on your country and product, Nest Aware subscribers can access their device settings and video recordings in either the Nest app and website or Google Home app

If you are still paying for Nest Aware on each camera, it’s easy to switch to a plan that provides additional video history, advanced intelligent alerts, and one price across all the Google Nest cameras, doorbells, speakers, and displays in your home.¹ Nest Cam (indoor or outdoor, battery), Nest Cam with floodlight, Nest Doorbell (battery) or Nest Cam (indoor, wired, 2nd gen), require the latest version of Nest Aware (priced at $8/month or $15/month for Nest Aware Plus). For those cameras, you will need to switch to the current version of Nest Aware.

If you started using the Nest app before August 19, 2019, you created a Nest account to manage your Nest products. You now have the option to migrate your Nest account to a Google account, creating one unified Google Account that you can use to manage products and homes. You should start to see these changes take effect after your Nest Aware Plus order is processed. Nest Aware Plus comes with 10 days of 24/7 video history, which applies to video footage captured after the order is processed and while you have an active Nest Aware Plus subscription. 24/7 video history begins when you officially subscribe to Nest Aware Plus and does not retroactively go back to the beginning of the trial.

If you cancel Nest Aware, you’ll have service until the billing cycle ends. Be sure to save any important video or sound detection clips before you cancel your subscription.

To change between monthly and annual billing in your Nest Aware subscription, you will need to stop auto renewal on your current subscription, wait until the billing cycle is over, and then resubscribe to Nest Aware with your preferred billing frequency.

Google Nest cameras and doorbell lights let you know whether your camera is working normally or if there’s a problem. You are always in control of your devices and settings. At any time, you can delete your Nest Cam video history from Settings in the Nest app, and delete your sound detection history in the Home app.
