Getting sharp night video on your phone in low light has always a big challenge, typically resulting in streaked clips, grainy faces, and jumbled shadows. That issue sometimes spoiled low-light photos, too, if there was any movement in the image or your hand while you took the shot.

In the background, the video you record is saved in its original version on your device, while the file is also sent to the cloud for processing, where High Dynamic Range Plus software automatically adjusts exposure, stabilises movement, and removes graininess. Depending on the length of the video, within a few minutes or a few hours, the original preview version on your Google Pixel is automatically replaced with studio-quality video.
