Frequently asked questions.

It’s our trade-in program that can help you get the latest Pixel device from Google. If your trade-in device is eligible for credit, you can offset the purchase price of a new one. You can get all this done online at the Google Store, making it convenient for you to complete your transaction all in one place.
We’ve made it easy to trade in an eligible device online. During your purchase of a new Pixel device, select “Start trade-in” on the “trade-in” screen. We'll provide an estimated trade-in value (if applicable). If you accept the trade-in estimate online and complete your purchase then for select customers this will be applied as an instant trade-in credit, reducing the upfront payment for your new device. Otherwise, your trade-in credit will be paid to your original payment method after your device has been inspected and its value confirmed. We'll arrange for you to send your old device to our trade-in partner, PCS Wireless. You'll receive your new device before returning the old one, which gives you time to set the new one up. Once our trade-in partner has received your old device, they'll inspect it and verify its condition, and we’ll email your final trade-in value typically within five business days. If you didn’t receive an instant trade-in credit at checkout (limited subset of customers* only), your final trade-in value will be paid to your original payment method. If you received an instant trade-in credit then any difference between the estimated and final value of your traded device will be paid to or deducted from your original payment method, as applicable. If the trade-in credit exceeds the cost of your new Pixel device (excluding VAT), the excess amount will be provided as Google Store credit. If the trade-in value is less than 75% of the original estimate then your old device will be returned to you and the original estimate will be deducted from your original form of payment. The trade-in value will also be provided as Google Store credit in case you return your new Pixel device.

Your trade-in credit will be issued either as a refund to your original payment method after our trade-in partner verifies your device’s condition, or as an instant trade-in credit at checkout (for eligible orders only*). If the trade-in credit exceeds the cost of your new Pixel device, the excess amount will be provided as Google Store credit.

With device verification, the device received must match the description you provided at the time of estimate (manufacturer, model, whether it turns on, whether it has screen damage, etc.).

Devices sent for trade-in must be received within 30 days of receiving your new device, provided the purchased device has not been returned during that time. Your trade-in transaction expires 75 days after your new device ships from Google.

Instant Trade-In is available to a limited subset of customers and allows you to receive your estimated trade-in credit immediately, reducing the upfront payment for your new device. However, if you do not send in your device within the 30-day required window, or if the device received does not match the description you provided, your original payment method will be charged for the difference in value.
No. The estimated trade-in value and the confirmed post-inspection value for your device are the same whether you receive the credit instantly at checkout or as a refund after inspection. In both cases, the final value is determined by the condition of the device we receive. If the device and its condition match your description, you keep the full value.
Instant Trade-In is currently available to a limited subset of customers, and only for 1 trade-in per customer. If you are eligible, you will see the option applied automatically during the checkout process. If you do not see the option, you will proceed with the standard trade-in process where your credit is issued as a refund after we inspect your device. Note that transactions where the trade-in value is close to the purchase value of the new device are not eligible for instant trade-in credit.

Please do not send your device if it has a damaged or swollen battery. If the inspection results show swelling or other physical damage to the battery, the device will not be eligible for credit and cannot be returned due to safety issues and local regulatory requirements.

Please note that phones reported lost or stolen, phones found to be counterfeit, phones that don’t power on/off, and phones that are not factory reset or have passcodes and locks when received will also not be accepted for trade-in, and may not be returned due to safety issues and local regulatory requirements.

It depends on the device, model, manufacturer and condition. Answer a few questions about your device accurately to get an estimated value. Once our trade-in partner has received the device within the specified time frame and verified its condition, you're likely to receive the full amount of the estimated value. Bear in mind that our trade-in partner needs to receive your device within 30 days of receiving your new phone, and the condition needs to match what you told us. Your trade-in transaction expires 75 days after your new device ships from Google.
You can trade in your Google Pixel phones and watches.
Generally, it takes 3-4 weeks after you send your device. The sooner you send your device, the sooner we can verify its condition and confirm its final value.
You can only trade in one device per Pixel purchase. If you would like to trade in multiple devices, you can do so by purchasing multiple phones in separate orders.
Follow the instructions included in your trade-in kit. It explains how to prepare, pack, and ship your device. Keep in mind that the estimated trade-in value is valid for 30 days, and we encourage you to send the device within this time frame to ensure that you get the value.
Before you send your device, we’ll tell you how to back up and erase all your data. This ensures that all your personal information is completely removed from your device before you trade it in.
If you pay for your phone using Klarna financing, and receive an instant trade-in credit, you will be asked to provide a secondary form of payment. If you do not send in your device within the 30-day required window, or if the device received does not match the description you provided, this secondary payment method will be charged for the difference in value.

You can find the status of your trade-in by selecting "trade-in details" from your order history.
- Confirmed: You started the trade-in process and got an email confirmation.
- Device assessed: We’ve sent you an email with the value of your old device.
- Canceled: You canceled your trade-in before you got your kit.

If you haven't yet shipped your old device, and did not receive an instant trade-in credit at checkout, you can cancel your trade-in by simply keeping your device and disposing of your trade-in kit.

If you received an instant trade-in credit, you can initiate a trade-in cancellation from your trade-in details page. Cancelling your trade-in results in an immediate charge for the full trade-in amount.

If you've already posted your device, the trade-in can't be cancelled.

You don’t have to, but you can always send in your chargers and cables, and we will recycle them for you.
