How to enrol.

  1. Select your desired device and begin configuring it.
  2. In the Preferred Care section, pick your plan by clicking 'Add'.
  3. Complete the checkout process. Your coverage period begins on the date Google ships your device.

  1. Navigate to the Preferred Care management page.
  2. Locate the device order you'd like to add Preferred Care to and click 'Review and buy'.
  3. Once Preferred Care is purchased, a new order will be generated with a separate email confirmation.

How to file a claim and receive your replacement device.

Step 1

Visit your membership portal and select the applicable device. Once filing is complete, you will receive a confirmation email.

Remove SIM card from the old device and insert into the new device. If possible, reset the old device to factory settings before shipping.*

Frequently asked questions.

Preferred Care provides you extra coverage on top of your two-year limited warranty and statutory rights , including coverage for drops, spills, and other accidental damage from handling. You can also receive additional coverage for loss and theft with Preferred Care with Loss and Theft. Both Preferred Care or Preferred Care with Loss and Theft are available as two-year plans, where you pay once up front for 24 months of coverage or you can pay monthly up to 60 months. Google Preferred Care is administered by Asurion Europe Limited (see Q.9. for more info). For more info about Preferred Care, go to the Help Centre.

Preferred Care and Preferred Care with Loss and Theft are insurance plans for your Google devices. On both plans there is a claim limit of 3 claims per rolling 12-month period, beginning with the date of first replacement. For more details, please see the Preferred Care Terms & Conditions.

Preferred Care provides replacement for accidental damage including screen damage and accidents such as drops or, liquid spills, screen or display cracks for as long as the device is enrolled.

Preferred Care with Loss and Theft covers the same accidental damage incidents as the Preferred Care plan and in addition, also covers loss and theft incidents in case your device is stolen or you can’t find your device.

Eligibility and plan pricing vary by device. You can view the complete list of eligible devices and their costs here. Service fees are applied per claim. There is no service fee for mechanical breakdowns claims. For all specific service fees and program details, see the Preferred Care Terms & Conditions.
The Preferred Care Monthly Coverage plan renews automatically every month up to 60 months. With the Preferred Care two-year plan, you pay once up front for 24 months of coverage.

If you’re not happy with Preferred Care from the Google Store, you can contact Google to cancel your plan and get a refund. For monthly plans you can also cancel by accessing the membership portal.

Within 30 days of plan purchase: If you haven’t filed a claim, you can get a full refund for Preferred Care.

After 30 days of plan purchase: You can get a prorated refund for Preferred Care, minus any claims paid up to the cancellation date.

After an incident, you can initiate a claim by accessing the membership portal, selecting your protected device. You will be redirected to the Asurion claim’s filing site and can provide details about the incident. If you would like to talk to a support agent to file a claim, you can call Asurion. See detailed claim filing instruction. Once your claim is approved, Google will proceed with sending you a replacement device.

Cancelling your device order: If you have a change of heart before Google ships your purchased device and cancelled your device order, your Preferred Care plan will be automatically cancelled and we will provide a full refund.

Returning your device: Returning your purchased phone within the device return window will result in an automatic cancellation of your Preferred Care plan and we will provide a full refund for the plan cost alongside your phone return.

Preferred Care is administered by Asurion Europe Limited who has partnered with Google Commerce Limited. Asurion specialises in mobile device protection and warranty plans like Preferred Care and is a UK-based company authorised by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA). Preferred Care products are insurance policies issued by WDP Insurance Limited.
