Where can I learn more about the programme?
- 1Preferred Care is an insurance plan designed to provide comprehensive protection beyond the standard warranty. - 2Google will send you a replacement device to replace your damaged or lost device under the Preferred Care plan that is a new or refurbished model that is functionally equivalent to your original device. If your specific model or colour is unavailable, Google may offer you a replacement with similar features in a different colour or with a different storage capacity. Upgrading to a higher storage capacity or choosing a different colour is not possible under the plan. There is a limit of 3 claims per rolling 12-month period, and coverage starts from the date you purchase a Preferred Care Policy.
- 3While excess fees are not included in the plan cost, they contribute to the cost of your replacement device under Preferred Care. These fees vary depending on your device's value at purchase and the claim type (accidental damage or loss/theft). For example, a Pixel 7a would have a £39 excess fee for accidental damage and a £59 excess fee for loss or theft. You can find the full breakdown of excess fees for each Google device in the Preferred Care UK Frequently Asked Questions. Preferred Care covers malfunctions and accidental damage to your device that affect its functionality. Cosmetic damage, such as scratches or dents, is generally not covered unless it is accompanied by a cracked screen that compromises the functionality or waterproofing of the device.
- 4If your claim is approved, your replacement phone will be shipped with next business day service (excluding weekends and bank holidays). Replacement devices are usually shipped the next business day for claims approved before 08:00 Monday to Friday and 16:00 on weekends. However, a few things can influence the actual delivery time. If extra verification is needed for your claim, or if your specific device model is out of stock (resulting in a different model being offered), then delays are possible. To receive a more accurate timeframe and information about tracking your device, please sign in to your Preferred Care portal after your claim is approved.
- 5To remove all data from your phone, you can reset your phone to factory settings. Factory resets are also called “formatting” or “hard resets.” Learn how to reset your device here. Some third-party apps and data may not be transferred automatically. For more info, visit g.co/pixel/copydatahelp.
